RP’s top flyweight to face undefeated Tanzanian
MAASIM, Sarangani – The country’s top flyweight boxer Richie Mepranum is excited on his upcoming fight to be held here on June 14.
The 21-year old native of Maasim, Sarangani is set to face Tanzanian’s undefeated Juma Seleman Fundi in the main event of “War in Sarangani.”
The boxers will fight over the currently vacant WBO Oriental flyweight belt.
Mepranum boasts of a 16-1-1 slate with 7 knockouts, while Fundi brandishes his 7-0 with 4 KO record.
Mepranum impressed his fans December 2 last year in a stunning eighth-round split decision over Philippine flyweight champion Rocky Fuentes at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Mepranum, a big fan of WBC super featherweight king Manny Pacquiao, had eight gold medals, five of which were from invitational bouts in at least 50 amateur fights and 18 professional fights in his four years of boxing, bringing him quick time to a world title shot.
