Engineer of sunken vessel rescued in Marinduque - report
MANILA, Philippines – Authorities in Marinduque on Friday rescued a chief engineer of fishing vessel that sank as typhoon “Frank” lashed the region over the weekend.
A radio report quoted Chief Superintendent Luisito Palmera, chief of the Mimaropa police, as initially identifying the rescued engineer as one “Francisco.”
The central Philippine region of Mimaropa is composed of the provinces of Mindoro Occidental, Mindoro Oriental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.
The report added that the engineer is currently undergoing treatment at a Marinduque hospital.
Palmera clarified that the rescued victim did not come from MV Princess of the Stars, which capsized off the coast of Romblon last Saturday.
The report quoted the police director as adding that the victim came from one of several fishing vessels that sank at the height of typhoon “Frank.” - GMANews.TV
