Pinoys enjoy natural parks in Ireland
When not at work, Filipinos spend quality time with their families in several natural parks that are offered by Ireland.
“Dito kasi more on natural, sa Pilipinas umuunti na ang parks natin dahil sa modern development. (Parks are slowly disappearing in the Philippines due to modern development.) So dito sa Ireland they still keep their surroundings with a natural feeling,” said architect Jun O’Conner.
“Alam mo dito sa Ireland, bawat sulok yata ng Dublin merong mga parks. Di kagaya doon sa atin sa Pilipinas, Rizal Park lang yata yung alam ko. (I know that here in Ireland all corners of Dublin have parks. Not like in the Philippines where there is only Rizal Park),” Romeo Acosta said.
Ireland attributes its success in the preservation and conservation of its natural parks, especially those with historical values, to their government’s efforts.
“The Irish government protects its parks by setting up a company called Board Failte. And Board Failte looks after the individual parks around the Irish countryside and especially around Dublin where we have a lot of historical park sites,” said tour guide Danielle Harney.
For Filipinos in Ireland, going to parks have several benefits.
“Magkakaroon ng time together ‘yong mga families, na hindi na sila kailangang lumayo pa ng lugar (Families can spend time together and picnic without having to go far),” said Vic and Apol del Rosario.
