2 more bodies found in waters north of Sibuyan
A radio report quoted Senior Superintendent Fidel Posadas, chief of the Quezon provincial police, as saying that one of the two victims - who was identified through an identification card retrieved from the body - was confirmed to be a passenger of the ill-fated vessel and was among those listed in the ship’s passenger manifest.
Posadas said the two bodies were fished out off the coast of Brgy. Pinagsangahan in San Francisco town after local villagers found them floating at sea. The bodies are already in a state of decomposition when discovered, the police chief added.
The stench of the bodies had forced local town officials to bury the decomposing cadavers immediately after retrieval.
Officials said they would just have the bodies exhumed once the relatives of the two come over to claim them.
With the retrieval of the two bodies, the number of bodies recovered in different locations in and near the Sibuyan Island climbed to at least 289. - Mark Merueñas, GMANews.TV
