UP prof found dead in Quiapo
A University of the Philippines professor was found dead inside his room in Quiapo, Manila, radio dzMM reported Monday.
The body of Joseph Lachica, 35, was already in a state of decomposition when officers of the Manila Police District Homicide Division retrieved it from a room at No. 862 Gonzalo Puyat St.
Senior Police Officer 2 Benito Kapatpat said police received a complaint about the stench from the victim’s room. A neighbor peered inside the room and saw the victim’s body dripping with blood.
Kapatpat said that might have been killed three days ago.
Police investigation showed that the victim shared the room with a security guard identified only as “Gel.” The security guard reportedly went home to Pangasinan province on Friday, two days before the victim’s body was found.
Police are now hunting down the security guard to ask him questions about the victim.
