Suspected kidnap gang member killed in Bulacan shootout

MANILA, Philippines — A suspected member of a car theft and robbery group operating in Bulacan and Nueva Ecija has been killed in a shootout with police, according to police authorities on Friday.

PO3 Dennis Salamat, intelligence and investigation chief of the police in Hagonoy town of Bulacan, identified the suspect as Tirso Adolfo, 37, who was wanted for robbing an Indian national on June 8.

Police engaged the suspect in a shootout in Sitio Olandes in Barangay Mercado, Hagonoy, after receiving reports on his whereabouts, Salamat said in an interview with GMANews.TV.
Adolfo’s body was claimed Thursday afternoon by Martha Viray Espinosa, sister of Reynaldo Viray who allegedly leads the criminal group Adolfo belongs to.

Adolfo stayed in Espinosa’s house but she is not involved in the group’s activities, said Salamat.

He said Viray’s group is wanted for several car theft, holdup, and robbery cases in Bulacan and Nueva Ecija, where the suspects reportedly bring stolen vehicles.

“Karamihan ng hinoholdap nila Indian national kasi hindi nagrereklamo (Most of their victims are Indian nationals because they rarely report to the police),” he said.

Police said they are still looking for Viray and one of his relatives, Ricardo Viray alias “Buwaya,” who is also an alleged member of the group.  - GMANews.TV
