About 100 families in Tacloban lose homes to fire
About a hundred families lost their homes and belongings after a fire hit Barangay Sais Santo Niño Extension in Tacloban City Wednesday morning.
The fire started around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The residents quickly evacuated from their homes and tried to carry whatever belongings.
Parents also immediately fetched their children from two schools that were near the area. Department of Education officials quickly suspended classes in two schools near the area of the blaze.
Firefighters of Tacloban City as well as those from nearby towns responded in putting out the blaze.
Among those affected by the fire were students from the University of the Philippines in the city who were living in boarding houses in the area.
City officials quickly assisted affected residents and distributed relief goods.
There were no reports of casualties due to the fire.
