‘Igme’ leaves 3 missing in northern Philippines
MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon “Igme” (international name: Fung Wong) left three people missing in northern Philippines, a report by the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) said Monday.
Those reported missing were identified as Jimmy Bala, 26; and a certain Loreto, 50, of Piddig and Pasuguin towns, respectively, in Ilocos Norte; and Edwin Montemayor, 27, of East Tubao in La Union.
In the NDCC’s 10 a.m. report Thursday, it said that 1,223 families or 6,014 individuals from the Ilocos Norte towns of Piddig, Pasuquin and Solsona as well as from Laoag City, were affected by Igme.
Some parts of Bacara town also in Ilocos Norte, were hit by floods after the release of water from Vintar Dam, the report said.
Likewise, flooding rendered a number of thoroughfares in the province impassable to vehicles, including the Quirino-San Emilio Cerventes road.
On the other hand, the report said 94 families or 470 people from Lagangilang and Licuan Baay towns in Abra province were also affected by the weather disturbance.
The NDCC report said 25 families or 125 individuals were evacuated to higher areas.
As of posting time, “Igme” was reported to have already hit Taiwan, causing floods and landslides there. - GMANews.TV
