Visayas Report: 3 killed as tricycle collides with truck in Iloilo

MANILA, Philippines — Three people were killed and six were injured after a tricycle carrying them collided with a delivery truck at the national road in San Joaquin town, Iloilo province on Tuesday.

Visayas-based Bombo Radyo reported that the fatalities included tricycle driver Simeon Velez, five-year-old boy Adrian Sivelleno, and Edmond Ramones.

The three were declared dead on arrival at the Guimbal District Hospital, said the report.

Injured were Glenn Patolinao, 10; brother Peter John Patolinao, 11; Tony Rose Latogo, 10; Adrian’s mother Edcel Sivelleno, 32; Ivy Marie Gaylan, 12; and Clifford Velez, 12.

The victims were riding a tricycle heading for Poblacion San Joaquin in Iloilo, the report quoted police as saying.

Police investigators learned that the tricycle was racing with another tricycle when it collided with a delivery truck owned by Valiant Enterprises and driven by Ceron Riosena, said the report.

Riosena, who surrendered to police, said he was driving slowly but the tricycle was on high speed. - GMANews.TV
