Salad downs more that 20 people in Mallig, Isabela
More than twenty people from Mallig town in Isabela province were rushed to the Roxas District Hospital reportedly after eating agar-agar salad in a birthday party Sunday afternoon.
Jane Padrid said that she, her husband and two kids felt pains in their stomachs all at the same time followed by nausea before they vomited.
Laboratory tests have revealed they are positive of food poisoning.
“Nagmula doon sa kinain nila maii-label natin ‘yan na infectious diarrhea probably secondary to food poisoning,” said Dr, Oscar Caballero, hospital chief.
Even Marife Maltu, who reportedly prepared the salad became victim to food poisoning.
She said that she made sure that the food was clean. She also admitted however noticing rusts in one of her canned ingredients.
The Provincial Health Office of Isabela is investigating Marife’s story as it called on residents to be wiser and more careful in preparing food.
