NDCC: Death toll in Mindanao fighting now at 66
In its report posted on its website, the NDCC also said at least 78 were reported injured while two civilians remain missing to date.
NDCC said that of the 66 fatalities, 43 were from Region 10, 15 from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), and eight in Region 12.
Of the 66 people killed, 57 were civilians, seven were law enforcers, and two were members of the MILF.
As for the 78 injured, the NDCC said 65 are civilians and 13 are law enforcement operatives.
The NDCC also identified the two missing civilians as Ruben Lopez and Alexis Kidlat, both of Kolambugan town in Lanao del Norte.
Lanao del Norte was one of the provinces attacked by the MILF last Aug. 18.
The NDCC also said the fighting had affected 88,243 families or 423,772 persons. Of these, 87,378 families or 419,447 persons still need assistance. - GMANews.TV
