Cristine Reyes confesses feeling hurt by negative publicity
With former flame Dennis Trillo admitting that they’re no longer together, young actress Cristine Reyes stressed that she’s not yet ready for commitment. Is she open to being courted by Kahit Isang Saglit co-star Jericho Rosales? Cristine simply said, “Siguro sa ngayon po, ‘wag muna po.”
Cristine Reyes’s effective portrayal of a club guest relations officer (GRO) in ABS-CBN’s primetime drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya last August 23 exhibited the young actress’s newfound confidence in doing serious roles.
Director Jeffrey Jeturian praised Cristine’s depth and sensitivity as an actress. In a taped interview with The Buzz aired last Sunday, September 7, the critically-acclaimed director admired Cristine’s dedication during the taping of the MMK episode.
But pulling off an acting feat doesn’t necessarily mean complete reversal in terms of image and initial public impression. Cristine continues to be haunted by her alleged “pasaway” ways.
When she got involved last year in a bitter love triangle with actor Dennis Trillo and ex-flame Carlene Aguilar, Cristine was quickly vilified, painted as the third party out to wrestle the matinee idol’s attention away from the beauty queen.
In a studio interview with The Buzz yesterday, Cristine spoke on what she felt was the public’s unfair judgment, which has been brought about largely by past negative write-ups.
“Nasasaktan ako ‘pag sinasabihan ako na pasaway pagdating sa trabaho, nakakaiyak kasi sinasabihan ako lagi na prima donna,” she told host Boy Abunda.
Serving as Cristine’s consolation were the nice words and compliments coming from her co-stars and directors.
“Iniisip ko na lang na part dun, ‘yong mga katrabaho ko, lagi nila akong pinupuri after the take ng mga kasama ko po.”
NO FEUD WITH SISTER ARA. As for sisterhood with Ara Mina, Cristine happily relayed that their relationship is going smoothly, now that they put all their misunderstandings behind.
“Magkapatid naman kami, Tito Boy, lahat naman po ng magkapatid nagkakaroon ng tampuhan. Kahit ano’ng mangyari, kapatid ko siya and kahit ano’ng sama ng loob magkaroon sa amin, in the end, kaming dalawa pa rin ang magdadamayan,” said Cristine.
Now that her relationship with Dennis Trillo is over, Cristine is currently being linked to Kahit Isang Saglit co-star Jericho Rosales, for whom she admitted having a crush.
Jericho is actually aware of Cristine’s admiration, causing her to feel uncomfortable whenever Echo is around. Cristine blushingly recalled bumping into Echo at a restaurant and suddenly feeling conscious, “Hindi po ako makatingin sa kanya.”
But before anyone thinks of romance between the two, Cristine quickly doused such hopes, at least for now.
“Paano kung ligawan ka ni Jericho?” Boy asked bluntly.
Cristine’s reply interestingly bordered between hesitation and optimism. “Siguro sa ngayon po, ‘wag muna po,” she answered meaningfully.
